Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 21, 2026
MAAKE ("Maake," "we," "us," or "our") makes sourdough crackers and runs the website you're on right now. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple because that's how we do everything.
1. What we collect
When you join our waitlist, we ask for:
- Your name (first and last)
- Your email address
- Your country and city — so we know where to launch and ship first
Like most websites, our hosting provider may also automatically log basic technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) to keep the site running and secure.
2. How we use it
- To email you when new batches drop and to share product updates, offers, and news about Maake (this is the whole point of the waitlist!)
- To understand where our future customers are, so we can plan launches and shipping
- To operate, protect, and improve our website
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
3. Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run our business:
- Klaviyo — our email platform, which stores your waitlist signup and sends our emails (Klaviyo's privacy notice)
- Vercel — our website hosting provider
- Google Analytics — website traffic and usage analytics (Google's privacy policy)
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — advertising measurement via the Meta Pixel (Meta's privacy policy)
- Microsoft Clarity — anonymized session analytics such as heatmaps (Microsoft's privacy statement)
These providers only process your information to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law.
4. Cookies & analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to understand how people use our site and to measure our advertising:
- Google Analytics 4 collects information about how you found and use our site (pages visited, time on site, general location, device type). It uses cookies to recognize repeat visits.
- Meta Pixel helps us measure whether our Facebook and Instagram ads work — for example, whether someone who saw an ad later joined the waitlist. Meta may associate this activity with your Meta account if you have one.
- Microsoft Clarity records anonymized interactions (scrolling, clicks, heatmaps) so we can see where the site is confusing and improve it.
You can control these through your browser's cookie settings, the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and your Meta ad preferences. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the site or join the waitlist.
5. Email marketing & unsubscribing
By joining the waitlist, you agree to receive marketing emails from Maake. You can unsubscribe at any time — every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, or you can email us directly and we'll remove you. We honor unsubscribe requests promptly.
6. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to opt out of certain uses.
- United States residents (including California residents under the CCPA/CPRA): you may request access to or deletion of your personal information. We do not sell or "share" personal information as defined by California law.
- Canadian residents: we comply with PIPEDA and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You may withdraw consent to marketing emails at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, just email us — we'll respond as required by applicable law. We will never discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
7. Data retention & security
We keep your waitlist information for as long as you remain subscribed, or as needed to comply with legal obligations. When you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information, we remove it from our active marketing lists. We use reputable providers with industry-standard security practices, though no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
8. Children
Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. If the changes significantly affect how we use your information, we'll let you know by email.
